What Can You Do With a Squiggle

The students were asked to draw a picture from a squiggle that I sent them in Microsoft's Paint program. Here is a look at their creativity. You may also visit their blogs to learn more about their illustrations.

Sharing What We Know About Fractions

We've been busy making ePub books in math. Mrs. Shapard's class wrote fraction word problems. See if you can answer their questions by downloading the class book. Read more about making the book here.

Mrs. Garcia's and Mrs. Zabriskie's classes used their names to discover what fraction were vowels and what fractions were consonants. Read about creating the book here.
(See below for directions in downloading the books to your iOS device.)

St. Patrick's Day Books

The students

Going on a Shape Hunt

Students showed what they had learned about plane and solid figures by going a shape hunt with iPads. They photographed all kinds of figures, added these to the Book Creator app, recorded narration, saved as a video, and uploaded to their blogs.

Snow Pals: Glyphs and Haiku Poems

The second graders have used Microsoft's Paint program and the Book Creator app to create class books of Snow Pals. The drawings were created based on how students answered a set of questions (a glyph). Next, the children wrote a Haiku poem about their snow pal. The final step was to add illustrations and voice recording to the app.

Visit the Snow Pals Glyphs blog post to read more about the process AND to access the links to download the ePub books. The books have also been made into videos and you will find those links on the post as well.
