Welcome to the First Grade Showcase!
Enjoy some of our technology projects.

Look at our Self-Portraits!

The first graders used Microsoft's Paint program to draw their self-portraits and they did an unbelievable job! Notice the details they've added (especially the eyes!).

Learning about Animals!
The students visited several websites to learn about animals. I asked them to find a fact then share it as I made a video. Below are their thoughts. Turn up your speakers all the way as we have some very soft-spoken students!
(There were a couple people absent that day who are not in the video.)

Each first grade class has created a class book (complete with audio) based on the book, It Could Have Been Worse, by A.H. Benjamin. Illustrations were drawn in Paint, the students blogged their predictions of what would happen next, and everything was pulled into the Book Creator app where the students recorded the reading of their predictions. If you would like more about the making of the books, please visit my blog post, Blogging, Bookmaking, and More!
If you are on an iOS device (iPad, iPhone, iTouch) and you have the iBooks app, you will be able to open the links below to view each class book.
The books will open on a PC or Mac if you use Google Chrome as your browser and the Readium app. Directions are attached below.

While on an iOS device, tap on a book link below.

We are wishing for snow in Texas! The first graders drew a snow scene using Paint. Their illustrations were put to music in an animoto video. Enjoy!

In September, we celebrated International Dot Day, a day to celebrate each person's creativity. After reading The Dot, by Peter H. Reynolds, students drew a "dot" picture in Microsoft's Paint program. Enjoy a look at their creations.

Enjoy the animoto of our students learning about digital citizenship as they discover how to make good choices about websites and as they blog.
