Take a Look at Some of Our Work!

First Grade Self-Portraits

Take a look at the amazing work the students did as they drew their self-portraits using the Microsoft Paint program. If you would like to print these, scroll down to the very bottom of the page where you'll find links to the PDF files of the self-portraits.

Lego Building and Stop-Motion!

The first graders have been using the MyCreate app to take photos of their Lego structures. This app allows students to save their photos as a stop-motion video. These were put together in iMovie so that you better see what they did. Read more about it here.

Enjoy!

Here's a peek at the process:

Four of our fourth graders have been teaching the first graders about Ozobots. Here's a look at our young teachers working with Mrs. Kee's class.

Watch the Ozobots follow hat-shaped paths programmed by the students. These little robots are programmed by a series of color codes drawn with markers. What a fun way to celebrate Seuss Week!

What fun the first graders have had celebrating 100th day. Some of the classes created videos of the stations visited to learn more about what one hundred is. Enjoy listening to their narration!

On the Hunt for Nouns!

First graders search for a noun photo op (person, place, or thing). They took a picture, inserted it into the ChatterPix Kids app, and recorded why it was a noun. Their videos will be on their blog but I also compiled all into class videos.

Making Predictions

We read a portion of It Could Have Been Worse, by A.H. Benjamin. The students were asked to predict what might happen next by illustrating, writing, and recording their prediction in the Book Creator app. Their work was compiled into a class book. These have been saved in two formats: ePub book and video. To open the ePub book, you will need to tap on the link while on an iOS device with the iBooks app installed. Choose download then open in iBooks. If you have trouble viewing all the pages, watch the video!

Responding to Literature

The first graders used the Drawing Pad app to make predictions while reading a story. Read about it here. Enjoy this collage of the students sharing their illustrations.
